List your league so players can find it

Show your league or tournament in Find leagues & tournaments, then approve the players who ask to join.

The names and results shown are made up (the Maple Street Pool League is a demo organization).

Players who are signed in can search Find leagues & tournaments by name, game, city or state. Only leagues and tournaments whose organizers chose to list them show up.

A listed league lets players ask to join. A listed tournament lets them open its public page and register. Player and staff names never show in a listing.

Listed when you create it

When you add a league (on Leagues & divisions) or create a tournament (on Tournaments), the form has a Find leagues & tournaments box.

  1. Leave List it in Find leagues & tournaments ticked.
  2. Fill in the City, State and Game.
  3. Finish creating the league or tournament.

Untick the box to keep it private. A listing lasts 90 days and can be renewed.

List a league or change its listing

  1. Open League information (under Setup) and choose the league.
  2. Choose the Public page tab.
  3. Under List in LeagueOrbit search, fill in the City and State (both needed), the Play night and time (as you'd say it), for example Tuesdays at 7 pm, and the Game.
  4. Optional: write a few lines under About (up to 300 characters). Don't include anyone's phone number or email.
  5. Choose how long to Keep it listed for: 30, 60, 90 or 180 days.
  6. Leave Players can ask to join ticked if you want join requests.
  7. Optional: tick Show a "View league page" button. This makes a public page link for the listing.
  8. Choose List it (or Save listing to change one).

The panel says how long it's listed for. When a listing expires, save it again to relist. Remove from search takes it out and closes any pending join requests.

For example, Maple Street Pool League lists its Tuesday 8-ball league in Springfield, OH, "Tuesdays at 7 pm", for 90 days.

List a tournament

  1. Open the tournament and choose its Share tab.
  2. Under List in LeagueOrbit search, fill in the City, State, Game and About, and how long to keep it listed.
  3. Choose List it.

The listing gets its own public page link, so players can open the tournament and register. See Let players register online.

Approve join requests

Requests arrive on the Players page, under Join requests. Each one shows the player's name, the league, when they asked, and their note. Their email shows only if they chose to share it.

  1. Choose Approve. The player is added to your player list, linked to their account.
  2. Choose Place on a team to put them on a team in Rosters.

Or give a Reason (optional, the player sees it) and choose Decline.

When a player says they're already on your list

A player who has played with you before can choose I'm already on their list and give their name as you list it. Their request says "Says they're on your list as" that name. They're asking you to link their account to their existing record, so their results, rating and history become theirs.

  1. Under Link to which record?, pick the matching record. If none is shown, use Search your player list.
  2. Choose Link to this record.

Only link if you're sure it's the same person. If they're new to you, choose Add as a new player instead, or Decline.

If the record already has an email on file, use Invite on the player list instead, so only the owner of that email can accept. Then decline the request and say an invitation was sent.

What players see

Players follow their requests under Your requests to join on Find leagues & tournaments: waiting, approved, declined (with your reason) or withdrawn. Once approved, your league shows on their My league. See Create an account and join a league.

Only the people who manage a league's public links can list it, and only staff who manage players can decide requests.
