Standings, tie-breaks and playoffs
Read the standings, choose how teams and players are ranked, and start an end-of-session playoff from the standings.
The names and results shown are made up (the Maple Street Pool League is a demo organization).
LeagueOrbit works out the standings from every saved result. You choose how teams are ranked and how ties are broken. At the end of the session, you can turn the standings into a playoff tournament.
The standings
Open Schedule & standings, choose the division, and choose Standings. Each team's row shows Rank, Played, Won, Lost, Tied, Points for, Points against and Difference. The line under the table says how teams are ranked.
Below the team standings, Player standings ranks each player from finished match sheets.
You can download each table: Download standings (CSV), Download schedule and results (CSV) and Download player standings (CSV).
Choose the ranking and tie-breaks
Unless you change it, teams are ranked by wins, then point difference, then points scored. To change it, open Standings rules below the table.
- In Rank by, choose what counts first: Matches won, Rounds won, Games won, Points for or Point difference.
- In each Then by, choose the next tie-break, or Nothing more to stop.
- Under Tied matches, choose A tie stays a tie, or Each team gets half a match win.
- Choose whether team handicap points are Included or Left out of Points for, and how many Decimals shown.
- Enter a Reason for the change and choose Save standings rules.
The standings are recalculated everywhere, including the public page. Saved results don't change.
Player standings rules
Open Player standings rules to choose how players are ranked:
- Rank players by and each Then by: Win %, Points, Average or Games won.
- Average: Per game or Per match night.
- Weeks played to be ranked: players with fewer weeks show as not ranked yet. Use 0 for no minimum.
- No-show forfeits, Scotch and doubles games and Games played as a substitute: whether each one counts.
Give a reason and choose Save player standings rules.
Start playoffs from the standings
At the end of the session, open Standings and choose Start playoffs from these standings. Operators and the owner see this button.
- Divisions: tick the division. Tick more than one for a playoff across divisions. Seeds then go by place: all the first places, then all the second places.
- Who qualifies: choose Top and a number to take that many teams from each division, or Every team that has played.
- Format, date and name: choose Double elimination, Single elimination or Round robin, set the races, the Date, Start time and Time zone, and give the Tournament name, like Maple Street Fall Playoffs.
- Venue (optional): choose a venue, and tick Use this venue's tables to use its tables.
- Choose Preview the seeds. Check the Seeds list, and use the up and down arrows to change the order.
- Choose Create the playoff tournament, then Open the tournament.
The playoff opens in the Tournament Director workspace, where you make the draw and score the matches. See Run a tournament from entrants to champion.
If you leave before it's finished, come back to the same page and choose Finish the playoff you started, or Start over.
You can also choose Make a tournament from this division on Standings to use the division's players or teams as entrants in any tournament.
