Set up the prize fund and pay the winners
Work out the prize fund from your entry fees, choose how it splits by place, record the payouts in the money book, and download spreadsheets.
The names and results shown are made up (the Maple Street Pool League is a demo organization).
Here the director of the Maple Street Fall Cup sets up the prize fund and pays the winners. Everything happens on the tournament's Money step. LeagueOrbit works out the amounts; you hand over the money yourself.
How the prize fund is worked out
The prize fund starts with the entry fees you've recorded on the Money step (see Record entry fees there). LeagueOrbit adds any Added money, then takes off the house's share:
- House keeps (% of entry fees): a percent of the entry fees only, never of the added money.
- House also keeps ($): a fixed amount on top.
What's left is the prize fund. The top of the Prize fund box shows each number, so you can check it.
Choose the split
- Open the tournament and choose Money.
- Under Prize fund, fill in Added money, House keeps (% of entry fees) and House also keeps ($). Leave any of them blank for none.
- Under Split by place, pick one of the Common splits to start from, or choose Add a place for each place you pay.
- Type each place's percent. The places must add up to 100%. Remove the last place takes one off.
- Choose Save the prize fund.
The table What each place pays shows the amounts. Odd cents go to the higher places, so nothing is lost. If another director changed the fund at the same time, LeagueOrbit shows you the latest version and asks you to make your change again.
Who gets what
When the bracket has places, Who gets what lists each paid player and their amount. Players who tie for a place share the money for those places equally. For example, two players who tie for 3rd–4th each get half of the 3rd and 4th place money together.
Record the payouts
Once the tournament has a champion, choose Record payouts in the money book. LeagueOrbit records one prize payout for each player, dated today.
- It's safe to choose it again: payouts already recorded aren't entered twice.
- If you change the split after recording, the old payouts stay. Void them in the money book first, then record again.
- The Money step shows how much is already recorded as prize payouts.
Download spreadsheets
Under Spreadsheets, choose:
- Entrants (CSV): each entrant's name, rating and status.
- Match results (CSV): each finished match with both players, the score, the winner and the table.
- Places and prize money (CSV): each place, the player and their prize.
The spreadsheets have names only, never contact details. See Keep the money book, budgets and payment options for the money book itself.
