Run the director's desk and tables

Set up your tables, send matches to them, deal with what the Director's desk flags, correct results and close the tournament out.

The names and results shown are made up (the Maple Street Pool League is a demo organization).

Here the director of the Maple Street Fall Cup runs the room on tournament night. Most of the work happens on the tournament's Matches step, which updates by itself every 20 seconds while you watch.

Set the tables

  1. Open the tournament and choose Setup.
  2. Under Tables, choose Add a table for each one. Give it a Table name or number and a Size (7 ft, 8 ft or 9 ft).
  3. Choose Save tables.

If the tournament has a venue, choose Use this venue's tables under Venue to copy the venue's open tables instead. You can't remove a table while it has an unfinished match on it.

Call matches to tables

Open Matches. The tables board shows every table, what's on it Now, and what to put on it Next.

Matches are grouped as Ready to play, On a table, Waiting for players and Done. Players who registered online and open the public page while signed in see which table they're up on.

Enter results

On a match, enter each player's racks and choose Save result. The winner must reach the race exactly, and the loser must be below it.

For a forfeit, choose who forfeits under Forfeit, then the reason: Didn't show, or Left the match (keep the score so far). More details: break and runs, table runs is optional.

Watch the Director's desk

The Director's desk at the top of Matches lists what needs you:

It also shows an Estimated finish time and how many matches are left. When nothing needs you, it says so.

Correct a result

On a finished match:

If a later match that depends on this one already has a result, clear that one first, newest first.

The review queue

Tournament staff can open Flag for review on a finished match, fill in What looks wrong? and choose Send for review.

Open results are listed under Results under review on Matches. For each one:

If you play in that match, another staff member must settle it. Settled reviews stay listed under Settled reviews.

Close out the tournament

When the final is played, the tournament shows the champion. A finished tournament closes and archives by itself 12 hours after the last result, so nothing changes by accident.

An archived tournament is read-only, and it has no public page. A tournament you restore stays open until you archive it again.
